32 Drivers head to 2022 Solo Nats from NER

2022 Solo Nats It's that time of year. National Championships. First up, are the autocrossers. Over September 6-9, they will return to Lincoln Airpark in Lincoln, Nebraska. This year, the New England Region is sending 32 drivers in an attempt to maintain it's standing as producing some of the most talented and competitive solo racers in the country. Last year, FIVE NER drivers claimed Solo National Championship titles, with nine more finishing with trophy placements.  In a twist on the preview of "Who Will Win?", instead of the editors and staff at SportsCar giving their opinions, they are having a little fun and putting it out for a member poll. Of course, more than a few familiar NER names on already on those poll lists, so go have some fun voting for our drivers! RAL Online Giving / Donations Link

Racing Against Leukemia Weekend This coming weekend is our annual RAL weekend of events. ROAD RACING: The road racing program will be hosting the RAL races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, with their silent auction and fundraising activities on Saturday night at the event party. This year, Nick Leverone, has offered up his flowing locks to be placed on the auction block. Donations are still be accepted for the auction. If you have goods or services you are willing to donate for the cause, please contact Abhi. RALLY: The rally program is hosting a Rally Against Leukemia, a road rally event starting and ending out of NHMS on Saturday. This is a 9 question Scavenger Hunt type Rally where the most answers correct in the least amount of miles wins. Questions and locations will focus on the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Registration is still open. AUTOCROSS: Solo ran one of their points events last weekend and encouraged their participants to donate via the online giving portal available with the UMass Memorial Medical Center. Formula Hybrid 2022

Formula Hybrid 2022 Tuesday-Thursday, May 3rd - May 5th Volunteer to help run Formula Hybrid Dynamic Events! Since 2005, New England Region SCCA has provided volunteers to help run the Formula Hybrid event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and after taking the past year off due to Covid, we are back on the track, and this tradition continues! Would you like to help run the dynamic test events this year? We are looking for technical and non-technical volunteers! We also have a need for technical inspectors and driver-change worker assistance! The Dynamic events are all the events where the cars are actually on track, and include acceleration and braking events, autocross and the final endurance event! We need YOUR help to run these events successfully! We need setup and breakdown workers, course workers, starters, and timing workers for the autocross event, and setup/breakdown/flaggers for the endurance event! Light breakfast is available on the mornings of event days, lunch each day is provided free at the Checkered Flag restaurant, as well as dinner on Wednesday night. 2022 Autocross Schedule Now Available The season schedule for 2022's solo/autocross program is now available. All events will again be held at Devens Airfield. There are two ways to find events and register. 2022 Solo Schedule – This dedicated 2022 Solo Schedule lists the all autocross events for the season - schools, points events, and special events. Registration links, as they become available, can also be found here. 2021 Solo Season Champs

2021 Autocross Season Champions The 2021 season kicked off with 13 events on the calendar, and 8 of them would count towards season points. After the turbulent 2020 season, the AutoX team only had to cancel one event this year - and that was due to the extreme weather that flooded tracks, roads, neighborhoods and basically the entire northeast. Solo Recaps: Orange Crush – 9/19/21

Written By David Bocchichio Photo by Ross Elkort It looks like we're continuing to make up for all the rain we had at the beginning of the season.  Partly sunny skies and temps in the low 70s greeted the 131 drivers that came out to compete with NER for our tenth event of the year.   Street Class  In SS there were two drivers with 8 Brendan Wong setting the fastest lap in a 2012 Audi TTRS with a 51.444.  We had eight drivers in AS with 43 Mark Ponusky taking the win in a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with a 48.744.  CS had one driver with 83 Nicholas Faust in a 2021 Mazda Mx-5 recording a 56.194. We had nine drivers in DS with 193 Eric Chiang taking the win in a 2013 Scion FRS with a 51.166.  In ES there were 6 drivers with 148 Gavin Williams coming out on top in a 2004 Toyota MR2 with a 51.282. 2021 Solo Nationals Recap

Photo by Perry Bennett of AutoXpix.com 2021 Solo Nationals Last weekend 39 drivers from the New England Region made the trek to Lincoln, NE for the 48th Solo Nationals event. After the 2020 event was cancelled due to Covid-19, it's not surprising that 1130 competitors in total, representing 45 of the 50 states, eagerly gathered at Lincoln AirPark to crown more than 60 national champions in autocross classes this year. With our 39 entries, NER was once again one of the largest regions represented at SoloNats. When all was said and done, NER put on fantastic performances, bringing home FIVE (5) 2021 National Championship titles, with an additional 9 earning trophy placements for the week. But to top it off, our drivers topped the PAX lists, proving just how strong our solo drivers are on a national level.
