About Pit Talk Editor

A 25-year SCCA member, Melissa Introne is the current Pit Talk Editor. She has a multi-generational family history with ties to the club. Her late father-in-law, Robert Introne Jr., served as the Chairman of the club’s national Board of Directors; her husband, Steve Introne, has raced for over 25years across the country in Autocross and Road Racing, and is the reigning B-Spec National Championship. Her three children continue the tradition, holding T&S, F&C and Novice competition road racing licenses as well. She is National-level Flagging & Communication marshal, and has served as Crew Chief for her husband’s autocross, SRF3 and B-Spec racecars.

2021 Solo Nationals Recap

Photo by Perry Bennett of AutoXpix.com 2021 Solo Nationals Last weekend 39 drivers from the New England Region made the trek to Lincoln, NE for the 48th Solo Nationals event. After the 2020 event was cancelled due to Covid-19, it's not surprising that 1130 competitors in total, representing 45 of the 50 states, eagerly gathered at Lincoln AirPark to crown more than 60 national champions in autocross classes this year. With our 39 entries, NER was once again one of the largest regions represented at SoloNats. When all was said and done, NER put on fantastic performances, bringing home FIVE (5) 2021 National Championship titles, with an additional 9 earning trophy placements for the week. But to top it off, our drivers topped the PAX lists, proving just how strong our solo drivers are on a national level. NER.org Gets a New Look

NER.org Gets Updated After months of planning and work, the New England Region is excited to unveil a new look to NER.org. After the successful launch of Pit Talk as a digital publication (Pittalk.org) four years ago, the region board of directors believed that the NER site was due for an update and rebranding that would integrate seamlessly with the growing Pit Talk site. "We're so excited to reveal the new website to the membership," announced Abhi Ghatak, Region Executive. "The team has worked hard on this design. The new site is clean and modern, making it easy for people to find the information they need." As part of the discussions, creating defined roles and goals for each site was key. NER.org would act as the marketing arm of the region - a way to reach new members with the basic information on what the club does and how to get involved, while Pit Talk would act as the engagement arm between the region and active members. NHMS RAL Weekend Recap

NERRC #5 - Racing Against Leukemia (RAL) Weekend The fifth NERRC event was the annual RAL weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Approximately 170 cars attended as we move into the latter half of the 2021 season. Racing was once again active and exciting throughout, with five new track records being set. SRF3 – #187 Evan Slater – 1:10.042 GTX – #03  Maurizio Cerasoli – 1:14.685 B-Spec – #12 Steve Introne – 1:21.250 FX – #22 Keaton Van Thof – 1:06.846 FA – #15 Mark McDonough – 1:05.981 A couple sessions were forced to shut down early due to on track incidents, but for the most part, racing was clean. As of Aug 15, results were updated and Group 3, Race 1 (the FVs and things) were just corrected and the new versions posted to the official results. NER RAL Scorched Orange AutoX

Written by David Bocchichio It was perfect weather for the RAL Scorched Orange AutoX with just over 100 drivers out competing.  Runs were kept to three in the morning and three in the afternoon to leave plenty of time for the Jeff Gordon Challenge, and more importantly some pie throwing fun.   Street Class In SS there were two drivers with 88 Walter Lunsmann setting the fastest lap in a 2015 Porsche GT3 with a 52.581.  In AS there were five drivers with 42 Russ Siggelkoe in a 2005 Lotus Elise putting down a 55.142 for the win.  BS had one driver with 6 James Dills recording a 57.311 in a 2016 BMW M3 for his fastest lap of the day.  DS had five drivers with 2 Jeff Bakken Narrowly edging out Steve Twaddle by only 0.448 with a 55.385 on his last run of the day. There were five drivers in ES with 148 Gavin Williams taking the win in a 2004 Toyota MR2 with a 54.958.  In FS there were three drivers with 74 Dana Nicgorski laying down the fastest lap with a 54.780 in a 2018 Ford Mustang GT.  GS had four drivers with [...]
