NER Drivers Collect 7 US Majors Championship Trophies

The SCCA U.S. Majors Tour Northeast Conference Champions were just announced and seven title holders are from our New England Region ranks. Please join us in congratulating the following winners on their 2018 trophies! Special recognition should also be given to Touring 1 racer Hugh Stewart, driving a BMW M3, who claimed that class championship in both the Northeast Conference and Southeast Conference. Many of these drivers will be heading to Sonomo in October for the 2018 Runoffs, as the Majors Tour is one pathway to qualify for the National Championships. Lime Rock Park Paddock Crawl

Perfect Race Weather The forecast was for picture perfect weather for the annual Paddock Crawl regional at Lime Rock park over Father's Day weekend. And the weathermen did not disappoint. While there were a few drizzles and sprinkles sporadically through the day on Friday, overall, it was the ideal setting for a great race weekend. Cooler temperatures on Friday led to sun and comfortable warmth on Saturday. With 7 groups on the schedule, more than 150 competitors showed up to compete in the NERRC Regional, a good representation from all classes.  Friday was plagued by unexpected radio issues between race control and the corner stations which caused a few minor delays. But hats off to all the stewards, chiefs and workers for managing the hiccups and keeping the races running. Friday had the first Qualifying session in the morning followed by a Qualifying Sprint race in the afternoon. The best time from those two sessions would determine the grid for Saturday morning's race. Finishing position from the morning would then set the grid for the afternoon race. Race Highlights Kicking off each morning in Group 1 was our favorite Spec Racer cars. [...]

NER Grant Money Purchases New CRE Helmets

Check out these four new Pyrotect Safety Gear helmets we have available as loaners for participants in this year’s DialedInRacing.com Club Racing Experience (CRE)! Darius Trinka, experienced New England Region SCCAroad racer and proprietor of rabidwraps, graciously custom designed and wrapped the loaner helmets in different colors so we can better keep track of them. These helmets along with HANS devices were obtained using a grant from SCCA Inc. headquarters in Topeka and generous local sponsorship from Dialed in Racing. Providing a loaner helmet and head-and-neck restraint systems is just one of the ways we are helping reduce the cost of experiencing wheel-to-wheel road racing with the New England Region SCCA. The latest registration details show we have nine participants expected for the Memorial Day Weekend CRE at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but there is room for a couple more. If you’ve attempted wheel-to-wheel racing in one of the budget enduro racing series or become addicted to track days (HPDE) and want to take it to the next level, the CRE is a great way to learn to race and earn your competition license.
