BOD Meeting Schedule As a reminder, all New England Region Board of Director monthly meetings are open for any member to attend. If there is specific business a member wants to address, they can send a request to either the RE or the Assistant RE to have that item added to the agenda. But if simply interested in the workings of the club leadership, reports on what each program is planning and doing, and curious about how to get more involved in supporting the club at a region administration level, we welcome any member to join. All monthly meetings are held via Zoom, so participation can be done conveniently from home. The main BOD sessions are open to the public. Certain voting and discussions that are reserved solely to BOD members may be held offline in a closed Executive Session. 2022 NER BOD Meeting Schedule Wed, October 12 @ 7:00 pm Zoom Link Wed, November 9 @ 7:00pm Zoom Link Wed, December 14 @ 7:00pm Zoom Link

2022 Solo Nats It's that time of year. National Championships. First up, are the autocrossers. Over September 6-9, they will return to Lincoln Airpark in Lincoln, Nebraska. This year, the New England Region is sending 32 drivers in an attempt to maintain it's standing as producing some of the most talented and competitive solo racers in the country. Last year, FIVE NER drivers claimed Solo National Championship titles, with nine more finishing with trophy placements. In a twist on the preview of "Who Will Win?", instead of the editors and staff at SportsCar giving their opinions, they are having a little fun and putting it out for a member poll. Of course, more than a few familiar NER names on already on those poll lists, so go have some fun voting for our drivers! Written by Kathy Barnes and Donna Stevens Bryar National 1981 Georgina Hendrix, Omer Norton and Ted Goddard From Kathy: Georgina was a long time member of NER. Although her member record only shows membership since 1987, she was a member far longer than that. I first met her when I met SCCA - in the Timing and Scoring area at Thompson Speedway a half century ago. Georgina served on the Board of Directors a couple different times and was a great mentor to me when I was first involved. Her encouragement was essential to the path I have taken in the club. When I was Solo Chair, she helped the region get access to a lot at a community college in CT. I’ll never forget the snow storm we had at the first event. She ALWAYS had the fun and fast cars – even for her daily driver. In addition to their involvement in running the region, doing all things road racing and rallying – Georgina’s house was legendary for club gatherings. In addition to the Gloria Barbour Award (now Assistant RE Award), she was a recipient of a Gold Pass [...]
SCCA is for Family It doesn't take long to find a second, or even third-generation of SCCA racers at an event. With a 70+ year history, SCCA has long been an organization that prides itself on being a family, and that includes making sure our younger members have a way to grow up and continue our love of motorsports. Bottom line - kids are welcome at our events. We love seeing smiling, young, enthusiastic faces where we can foster a heart for competition, offer a safe outlet to test their limits, and develop the future racers of tomorrow. Teen Involvement Don't assume you have to be over 21 to compete in SCCA events. NOT THE CASE! In fact, we make it possible for teens as young as 14 to get on track, start competing, and become a part of the action. Whether it's chasing cones on a Solo course, getting a Novice permit for Road Racing or RallyX, setting lap times at Track Nights or Time Trials, or waving flags on corners - there's a lot of ways for teens to get involved. The above chart breaks it down simply. To summarize: Minors under [...]
