Time Trials Nationals – NCM Motorsport Park

Written by Kathy Barnes Photos by Phil Jue and Lyn Jean Looking out of the front straight and across the track to the spire of the National Corvette Museum, you would never know that less than two years ago the facility was destroyed by a tornado. Other than the construction still going on in the Holley Tower, there was little to remind us in the paddock. The camaraderie in the paddock and competition on track for the NER drivers was great. The region paddock space was joined by former member Phil Jue, who relocated last year to Illinois. NER drivers were recognized for actions on and off track. Mark Sarsevicz (T2) returned after his 2021 engine failure and not only took the top of the podium, he set a new lap record for the class. Lyle Zyra (T3) drove a session with a less than optimal car after losing a sway bar mount, borrowed a replacement and went on to win the class as well as set a new lap record. Jack Nguyen, TTN first timer, finished 4th in S6. Phil Jue, former NER member and still part of the family, made the podium [...]

A Review of SXS at the 508 INTL RallyCross

Bringing out the SXS to a RallyCross SCCA's motto is #funwithcars. And one of the benefits of our national club is that it offers a variety of avenues to get out and do just that. From autocross and track nights, to wheel-to-wheel club racing, to tearing up the dirt on a RallyCross course. SCCA members have so many opportunities within one organization to fill their need for speed and challenge their driving skills. Recently, Raymond Blethen, who is most often seen in his T4 Mazda RX8 on road courses, or doing the Mt. Washington Hillclimb, connected with Tim Cerato to take a SXS "side-by-side" out to a RallyCross event at one of our newest locations - 508INTL. There was plenty of discussion beforehand on the role and place of side-by-sides on a RallyCross track, with the biggest concern being rollovers. Tim and Raymond took a stock one and then updated it to meet SCCA rules. Per Raymond, "I am a car guy, I don’t own a side by side [...]
