2023 SCCA National Convention Week
The annual National Convention is taking place this week, and as part of the events and programs offered, are the awards given to nationally recognize and honor the achievements of individual drivers, volunteers, and programs throughout the country.
This year, the New England Region claimed accolades across Road Racing, Solo and RallyCross. It’s a testament to the quality of our events, our leadership, and the dedication of every NER member that participates and volunteers in putting on some of the best racing in the country, and developing the highest caliber of drivers as a result.
Please congratulate the following!
2022 Solo Driver of the Year
Mark Daddio
The Solo Driver of the Year will have demonstrated exceptional skill or overcome major obstacles to produce an outstanding performance at the prior year’s Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships. The winner is selected by the Solo Events Board from nominations submitted by the membership at large.
This year’s Solo Driver of the Year is New England Region’s Mark Daddio. Daddio is a Silver Circle member, previous Driver of Eminence, and (counting the D Street title he earned at the 2022 Solo National Championships) has 13 National Championship titles to his name. In 2022, he also continued his streak of earning a trophy at all 30 Solo Nationals he’s attended.
2022 Kimberly Club Recipient
Steve Introne
Named after Jim Kimberly, former President and Governor of SCCA, the Kimberly Cup is awarded to the SCCA driver showing the most improvement in the last year. Selected by the Club Racing Board, this year’s Kimberly Cup recipient is Steve Introne from the New England Region.
Even after receiving his Regional competition license in 1999, Introne never stopped flagging. Coming from an SCCA family, the nearly 40-year member clinched the 2022 Northeast Conference Majors point standings in B-Spec and finished sixth in the Hoosier Super Tour point standings out of 70 drivers. In his fifth Runoffs appearance, he captured the B-Spec Tire Rack Pole at the 2022 Runoffs at VIRginia International Raceway, racing to a flag-to-flag victory.
2022 Regional RallyCross Program
New England Region
Hosting one of the oldest and largest RallyCross programs in the country, New England Region continued its tradition of hosting quality events at multiple sites and sending numerous fast drivers to the 2022 RallyCross National Championship with the support of their unique tow fund. New England Region members also serve at all levels of RallyCross leadership, as well as help represent the rally division in other Club programs such as the Women on Track committee.
