Just published, by longtime NER race car driver Roger French, a 300-page paperback of 100 of his favorite racing stories. Many of you will remember Roger, a 50-year member of NER, from his early days in Formula Vee. Or later in Club Ford and GT3. Or as a Grid Marshal, Flagger, and Scrutineer. Some will remember Roger as an NER Instructor. Or from his 11 years as NER Chief Instructor.

Starting in the rough world of New England stock car racing in 1962 and after winning a Figure-8 at Hudson, NH in 1969, he moved on to NER and road racing in 1972. He also raced with IMSA at Sebring and in go-karts at tracks near Seattle, WA. With nine SCCA championships, “a few memorable crashes”, and several years as a Rescue Marshal at European races, he is now back with NER racing a Formula Vee.

If you have met Roger, even once, even away from the track, you know he is a story teller and most of his stories are about racing. Having heard hundreds of those stories, his son suggested he write a book. Roger provided his favorites and added the subtitle “100 Stories, 60 Years, 1 Driver”. These are not stories he has collected from others. The stories in “Don’t Mention Racing” are all his stories.
