It’s October. Racing season is just about over for us New Englanders. RallyX and Solo have had their National Championships. Time Trials is having theirs as I write this. And Runoffs are coming up. That means that the end of the year is upon us.

As I look back over this past year, I am struck by how much fun I’ve had personally. It’s been a year of trying some new things, from being RE to working Control in Road Racing. The one thing that I can say is that no matter what I am involved with, there is one constant throughout, and that is the people. This club’s biggest strength is its members. So, to all of you, I send my thanks for your smiles, your dedication, and your willingness to be involved.

But, as we reach the end, it also signifies a new beginning. This season is over, but we start to prepare for next season. And one of the things that we do every year is to elect a new slate of Board members. Each member is elected to a 2-year term and can serve up to 3 consecutive terms. Half of the Board is elected each year. That means that we need at least 5 qualified people to run for position.

What makes you qualified? Simple. You must be a member in good standing, and 10 other members in good standing must sign your nomination sheet. Other than that, a willingness to spend a few hours a month attending meetings, or phone calls, or reading some documents is all it takes.

So please, if you haven’t been in a position for the club before, or even if you have, consider volunteering your time to the Board of Directors. Your club needs you. If you are interested or know someone who is, please reach out to myself ([email protected]) or any other Board member, and we will get you the nomination sheet and answer any questions that you might have.

Be well, and have some more #FunWithCars!
