Final Races Determine Season Champions
Wet and cold is the best way to describe the final NERRC race weekend.
Friday started out with torrential rains that tapered off into the afternoon, but kept the track, paddock and workers dealing with constantly wet conditions. When everyone woke or arrived on Saturday, the skies had cleared, but the temperatures had dropped. It was a cold final day of racing, which helped at least 3 drivers set new track records.
With almost 200 entries, there were at least 20, and as many was 40, cars on track in each session. As a quick refresher, the feature and final race on Saturday afternoon serves as a double points race. Drivers in close points battles for their NERRC class title, had the finishes in that final Saturday race determining who would claim the season trophy positions. And there were a lot of classes and trophies up for grabs at this event. These included the B-Spec, EP, FP, FV, FVR, GT1, GT2, IT7, ITS, SE30, SM, SMT, SRF, SRF3, SSM, STL, T1, T2, T3, T4 classes – all with points close enough going into this weekend where the finishes would either determine the Champion, or the second/third place trophy winner.
NERRC administrators are busy entering the final results and points totals will be updated soon, so watch Pit Talk here for the official announcements of the 2026 NERRC Champions.
