Get on Track Event
Current state restrictions would now allow for our Limerock Paddock Crawl event to occur. However, the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park track personnel were able to organize and facilitate the Get On Track practice day event on Saturday, June 13 with the help of New England Region workers and club racing staff. The track also hosted a drivers school on the Friday beforehand, June 12.
24 students participated in the school, with 85% of those new drivers getting signed off as Ready to Race by the end of the day. Congratulations!
The Saturday practice day was open to licensed drivers of all groups. Many NER drivers took advantage of the track’s practice time to break in and test cars that have been sitting over the winter. While this was not a SCCA sanctioned event, NER did help promote the day and some of our regular volunteer workers showed up to help. Thank you to all!
Due to the combined efforts of NER and the TSMP track working together to make this practice day happen, the two groups agreed to split the net profit from the event 50/50.
First NERRC of 2020
As states continue to ease restrictions, NER is moving forward with plans to host our first NERRC event, again at Thompson. As part of the Northeast Majors Tour, drivers and workers can already begin registering NOW for the July 11 & 12 full race weekend.
The region requests everyone – drivers AND workers – register as soon as you can. Knowing how many of each to plan for will help the club racing group make the necessary arrangements for a safe and successful weekend.
