NHMS Kicks Off NERRC Season

We’re Back! The 2026 New England Road Racing Championship season kicked off it’s first race of the year at NHMS last weekend with over 150 entries, including a CRE, over a gorgeous spring weekend. Earlier in the week the forecast was looking like we might be headed for a rainy start, and after swinging between really cold and really hot temps, everyone in attendance enjoyed perfect weather with clear sunny skies all weekend long.

There were the usual spins and incidents, especially after a long winter. However, we do want to send a huge thank you to our EMS and track teams that handled the red flag situation at Turn 8 that shut everything down for about an hour during the Group 4 feature race. Getting the track cleaned and the barrier walls back into position was a monumental effort.

Congratulations to the 5 drivers that came out swinging and set new track records! Nice way to start your season. We will be back to NHMS July 18-19 for our RAL weekend, so there will be one more chance for everyone else to best or set their own.

Trackside Experience

This weekend was also host to our first Trackside Experience of the year. In it’s third year by our Recruiting team, this event was definitely our most successful. We had 14 NEW VOLUNTEERS spend the day learning about and experiencing each of our trackside specialties. From flagging on turns, waving green flags on the start stand, verifying compliance in tech, arranging cars at grid, or managing scoring in the timing booth – they saw it all, and tried it all. Then 8 of them came back on Sunday to do it all again!

Tom Kirchman and Sal Baisley busted their butts off on Saturday showing everyone around and drawing up excitement and energy. And Josh Neumann, Greg Holt, Dan Cianci, Steve Introne and Brandon Pulford all put in a lot of their time pre-recruiting and putting ads on social media. A true team effort!

The second Trackside Experience event for the year is scheduled for July 3 at Thompson Speedway. If you know of people that might be interested, or you want to help support the effort – contact the team at recruiting@ner.org.
