A Perfect Weekend of Racing
2022 outdid itself when it came to the weather for this year’s Majors event at Thompson Speedway. Unlike 2021, where Hurricane Elsa flooded the paddock and track shutting down racing for almost the entirety of Friday, this year was graced with beautiful clear skies, light clouds, and warm sunny weather that wasn’t too hot – pretty much perfect. To top it off, we had two days of top notch Majors races.
Comments from the workers and stewards included that the cars were fast and the drivers were sharp with few incidents. It was a fairly clean weekend, not much in contact or damage, and the racing was highly competitive and entertaining.
New Track Records
Once again, more track records fell and drivers used the TSMP Majors as a way to secure final qualifying points needed for the Runoffs. Congratulations to Steve Introne in B-Spec, Jason Conzo in FE2, and Charlie Campbell in FP for their new record times. Watch for your track record certificates to arrive in your email shortly.
RAL is Coming
The next NERRC on the schedule will be our RAL event at NHMS August 6-7. Registration is already open. This will be another opportunity for our CRE for new drivers looking to get into club racing. As a reminder, this event is our big fundraiser for the UMass Memorial Medical Center. Planning is underway for our Saturday night auction.
