Palmer’s Stormy Pig Roast Weekend
The 6th NERRC race weekend, and only event scheduled at Palmer Motorsports Park for the 2025 season, took place last weekend. While races have been run in the wet and the dry, the Saturday afternoon/evening storms that raged through western Massachusetts and continued throughout parts of New England were fairly newsworthy, to say the least.
There were FIVE EF1 tornadoes that emerged on Saturday, Sept. 6 — with two touchdowns in Paxton, one in Holden, one in Berlin and one in Stow, according to the National Weather Service.
Reports are that everyone and everything at the track were safe and secure, but it put a slight damper on the worker/driver party that night, where the region had plans to auction off the Sam Posey Ferrari print. Because of that, online bidding for that auction has been extended through the Championship Weekend event October 17-18.
However, congratulations to all the drivers who still claimed new track records, and finished with wins after that craziness of this weekend. There’s just one NERRC weekend left in the season, with double the points. Looking forward to seeing all the racers there.
