Solo Honors Rob MacAlpine with Event on May 31

NER Honors Rob MacAlpine

Earlier this month our region lost a long time member, Rob MacAlpine. Rob passed away on April 3rd after a sudden illness. Many of you know Rob as our Chief of Course at SCCA, but he contributed so much to the region and every club that runs at Devens. He was the Autocross Chair and Founder of the Renegade Miata Club, he helped design courses at BMW, PCA and many other clubs. He was a friend and mentor to many in our community.

To honor Rob’s memory and encourage interclub competition, NER SCCA will be renaming the Interclub Challenge to the Rob MacAlpine Memorial Interclub Challenge which is scheduled for Saturday, May 31. Rob embodied creating a welcoming environment for all and lived SCCA’s core values of excellence, service, passion, team, experience, and stewardship.

A 25-year SCCA member, Melissa Introne is the current Pit Talk Editor. She has a multi-generational family history with ties to the club. Her late father-in-law, Robert Introne Jr., served as the Chairman of the club’s national Board of Directors; her husband, Steve Introne, has raced for over 25years across the country in Autocross and Road Racing, and is the reigning B-Spec National Championship. Her three children continue the tradition, holding T&S, F&C and Novice competition road racing licenses as well. She is National-level Flagging & Communication marshal, and has served as Crew Chief for her husband’s autocross, SRF3 and B-Spec racecars.
